SANDEEP JUNNARKAR is the New York Bureau Chief for the leading technology newsite, CNET News.com. He began at News.com in 1998 as a general assignment reporter and has since specialized at investigating the pitfalls the technology used in various industries.

Prior to News.com, Sandeep was a breaking news editor for the New York Times on the Web. He was on the founding team of editors and producers who first brought the newspaper--known for its motto "All the News that's Fit to Print"-onto the Internet. While at the Times, his articles explored the impact of technology on the art of medicine.

A 16-year-old from a small Nebraska town is one of many patients in rural areas who are receiving long-distance counseling.

Sandeep graduated from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism in 1994. Trying to get as much value from expensive year at this Ivy institution, he studied radio and television broadcasting as well as print.

He received a Bacherlor's degree in Social Science with an empahsis on Pyschology from the University of Calirfornia at Berkeley in 1988.

He hass won numerous awards for his work, including a prestigious Online Journalism Award, several awards from the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA), and from the Society of Professional Journalists' Northern California chapter.

Before becoming a journalist, Sandeep was a mental health worker in Napa, Oakland and Berkeley, California.

Sandeep lives in New York with his wife, Shobana and two daughters, Krithi and Sulekha. His wife is a classical Indian dancer, who in recent years has worked with several contemporary dance companies incorporating Indian dance forms.
