Think
of eBay without
all the commerce and you have Craigslist, a site that allows you
to trade products, services and more. It started in San Francisco
(doesn't everything having to do with the Internet start there?)
but has expanded to several other cities, including our area.
There is a Craig (Craig Newmark, a software engineer) and this
began as his local mailing list of arts events - now it covers
everything from autos to computers. The site makes money from
paid job listings in the Bay Area - otherwise all listings are
free. It's basically local classified ads that allow you to get
rid of stuff, house hunt, make new friends - the list goes on
and on.
Here
are some links to understand the site better.
A
heads-up: Since these are mostly free-form discussions, a small
percentage of the content may not be suitable for minors.
