If
you are tired of your clunky, TV-style computer monitor
and would like to get one of the flat-screen monitors that seem
to be everywhere except on your desk, the manufacturers are
trying to help you out. These sleek machines have been around
for a few years now, but have been too expensive for most consumers
(with prices starting at $1,500-2,000 vs about $300-400 for
traditional monitors).

But
advances in technology (and oversupply) have allowed manufacturers
like NEC and Samsung to cut prices drastically. What this means
is that you can get a flat-panel monitor that starts at about
$500 for a 15" display (the larger 18" models will
run you $1,000-plus, but that is still lower than about $1,900
just a few weeks ago).
Of
course, the traditional monitors are much cheaper than that,
with 17" models available for $200-300.
If
you can afford the extra expense, I would consider moving up
to a flat-screen monitor.

the advantages:

And,
yes, let's admit it, they look a whole lot better
Having
said that, let me emphasize that if you don't have the budget
now, there is no compelling technical reason to switch. And I
reckon prices may go down somewhat still. But this is a good start.

http://www.onlineconversion.com
Here's a site that's both fun and useful.
Nothing
to do with religious conversion -- this is a site that has more
than 8,000 calculators of various kinds.
From
the basics: miles to kilometers, world time... to the more complicated:
paycheck estimator, radiation residue -- and everything in between.
I
especially liked the section called "fun stuff." After
using the
retirement calculator, I was particularly disturbed to learn
I still have 8,000+ more work days till I retire.
