Sree's Top Three Book Buying Sites
Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003

This segment brings you quick, easy-to-use information each Saturday morning at 7:45 on TV and on Friday night right here on 7online.com.

This week: Book Buying Sites

Sure, you know about Amazon, but there are other book sites worth knowing about, too.

  • BarnesandNoble.com: The big chain has a very good site with at least two unusual features. First is the same-day delivery in Manhattan for items marked with a special green apple icon (order by 11 am and it will be delivered in Manhattan by 7 pm, using just the standard delivery charge) and B&N University, its dozens of online courses (most are free; topics include computer skills, technology, foreign business and self-help. These addresses are easier to remember: Books.com, Book.com and BN.com
  • BIBLIOFIND.COM: This site has teamed up with Amazon to offer millons of rare and used books. If you have too many books, you might want to consider selling some by signing up to become an Amazon seller.
  • BOOKFINDER.COM: Find 50 million new, used and out of print books through this free search engine that calls itself the "open marketplace for books." They don't sell directly, but instead list you stores around the country that sell what you seek. Most useful are the notes describing the condition of the used books being sold.
