Sree's Top Three Ways to Keep Your Kids Safe Online
Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003

This new segment will bring you quick, easy-to-use information each Saturday morning at 7:45 on TV and on Friday night right here on 7online.com.

Our inaugural topic: Keeping your kids safe online.

Parents are afraid of what's out there, but I believe with some smart, sensible rules, you can keep your kids safe on the Internet. After all it's something they have to use for school and to keep up with all that's going on around them.

Start by visiting these three sites:

  • GetNetWise.org: excellent online safety guide and tools for families.
  • SafeKids.com & SafeTeens.com: two sets of age groups are served here; after all, teenagers should have a different set of rules than younger kids.
  • NetNanny.com: this is the best of the filtering software out there - allows you to control what sites the kids can access. Worth a try.
For more tips, see an earlier story I did on keeping kids safe.
