This
segment brings you quick, easy-to-use
information each Saturday morning at 7:45 on TV and on Friday
night right here on 7online.com.
This
week: Discount shopping Web sites.
When
shopping online, always make sure you:
-
LOOK
FOR A SECURE SITE: Be sure you are in a secure site--you can
tell by the picture of a little lock which will appear in
the bottom right when you are asked for your credit card.
-
SEPARATE
CREDIT CARD: Try to use a separate credit card for online
shopping so you can track your purchases.
-
PRINT,
PRINT, PRINT: And print out each order, with confirmation
number.
-
GUARD
YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION: Safeguard your passwords, using
different ones for various sites. Merchants should never ask
for mother's maiden name
-
BBB.org:
The Better Business Bureau
site has a way for you to look up a company or site and see
if there have been any complaints against it.
Start
by visiting these three sites:
- Shopper.com:
The best place to start you hunting. A great way to compare
prices.
- DealTime.com:
Similar to Shopper, with a wider range of products.
- Froogle.com:
This new service, from my favorite search engine, Google,
links to thousands of sites that sell on the Web.
